The purpose of the CI Junior Program is to promote and encourage junior members to:
• Participate in exhibiting bantam and large fowl Cochins
• Gain knowledge on the proper care of Cochins and the value of breeding to the standard
• Learn good sportsmanship skills
Achievement Lapel Pin Program
Juniors may earn achievement pins for Best of Breed and Reserve of Breed wins in either an Open or Junior APA/ or ABA sanctioned show. These pins look great on the lapel of a showmanship coat, show apron or hat! Please submit copies of your coop tags or show report showing the name of the poultry show, date, bird placing and signature of an adult, along with your name and address to the Junior Chair. Pins will be mailed out bi-monthly. Reports & Coop Tags must be submitted within 30 days of date of show.
Junior Master Exhibitor Program
The Junior Master Exhibitor Program is an achievement program open to youth from ages 5-18 who are members of Cochins International. Youth membership dues are $10.00/year (or 3 years for $25.00) or may be obtained through a family membership of $20.00/year (or 3 years for $50.00).
Junior Master Exhibitor status is achieved when a junior member earns 3,500 points. Cochins International will award a framed achievement certificate and a jacket with the CI logo and the junior’s name for earning Junior Master Exhibitor status.
Points may be earned as follows:
1. Joining the Youth Exhibition Poultry Association - 100 points

2. Complete the YEPA Books
3. Participate in Youth Showmanship - 100 points per show
Showmanship Form
(To receive credit for showmanship, at least one cochin must be entered in the junior show)
4. Obtaining Help from an Adult Mentor - 100 points

5. Service Points- 20 points per task
Service Form
Juniors can receive points for service such as mentoring another junior, assisting a judge with tallying, helping a club set-up or break-down a show, serve at the Cochin International Club table at a show, etc.
6. Exhibiting a Bantam or Large Fowl Cochin at an APA/ABA Sanctioned JUNIOR Poultry Show
Junior Cochin Show Report
Points will be accumulated and totaled for the highest placing of each individual bird entered as follows:
• Entering a Bantam or LF Cochin
• RV or BV
• RB or BB
• Reserve or Class Champion
• Reserve or Champion Bantam or LF
• Reserve or Show Champion
7. A Breeding and Hatching Record
Breeding & Hatching Form
Must be completed and submitted for at least one pair or breeding pen of cochins in order to complete this program. One of the main priorities of this program is to help juniors learn to successfully hatch exhibition quality cochins. The Breeding and Hatching Record is worth 300 points. Additional records may be completed and submitted for 25 points.
**Please Note:
To receive credit for shows attended and tasks completed, documentation with the signature of the YEPA Club Director, a show secretary, or other adult in authority must be submitted to the CI Junior Chair by U.S. Postal Mail or Email.
Examples of acceptable documentation are photocopies/Pictures of your coop-tags which includes name, date, and location of the show, a showmanship participation form, or a service record form. To receive credit for receiving help from an adult mentor, the person must have several years of experience breeding and exhibiting poultry, and the mentor must submit a signed Adult Mentor form to the junior chair on behalf of the junior. If you have any questions regarding how to submit documentation, please contact the junior chair.
Point forms and logs can be found on the CI Junior page of the website. All points earned are subject to approval by the Cochins International Junior Chair. All reports, showmanship and tasks from a show must be submitted within 30 days of the show date.
Junior of the Year (New for 2022!)
Junior Cochin Show Report
From January 1st to December 31st your show points will be recorded when you submit a Junior Cochin Show Report and Coop Tags. The show report & coop tags must be submitted within 30 days of show date. At the end of the year the Junior who earns the most points in Large Fowl and Bantam will be awarded the Junior Exhibitor of the Year Award. We will award them with a special Certificate and award. Points are earned from exhibiting your Cochins at APA/ABA shows. A Junior Cochin Show Report must be submitted with Coop Tags to earn points. Open Show wins will also count towards junior points. All National Shows will be awarded with Double Points. You can find the Junior Show Report on the Junior page of the website.
